National Maternity Review

The National Maternity Review report outlines the ambitions for maternity services in England that truly places women and their families at the centre of maternity care.

A right to choice is a focus of the report and a personal maternity budget will be given to women to execute that choice.

The report recommends continuity of carer from a midwife known to the woman and a model of care the facilitates this.

Improving maternity services with mental health problems, the use of electronic records that the woman and health professional can access and a personal care plan are key items included in the report.

To meet the ambitions of the National Maternity Review, safe midwifery and support worker staffing is essential.
